Description

Downtown arts center showcases many different art forms in its Allenton, Semans, and CCB galleries and two performance spaces. The Durham Art Guild, one of several local arts organizations based here, stages six-week exhibitions of original North Carolina artistry.

Educational Information
School Group Information/Program Description The Durham Arts Council School educational programs provide the community with year-round high quality, accessible arts programs, services and information to the public and arts community. Classes and workshops are offered for Adults, Children and Teens in the following areas: dance, painting, drawing, clay, fibers, metals,
jewelry, sculpture, glass, photography, digital, graphic design, movement & music. Individual music lessons, Teen intensive arts studios, Saturday morning arts
programs for Kids, Family classes, Mommy and Me, Summer Arts Camps and Partnership classes with Triangle Youth Ballet and Liberty Arts are also offered. A catalog of courses is published four times a year for Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer Sessions. The catalog can be obtained
at www.durhamarts.org, in DAC offices or at drop off locations.
Professional Development/Program for Teacher Development There are a wide variety of development courses offered that provide artists, educators and business people the opportunity to learn cutting edge technology, artistic techniques and new trends in business. The courses/workshops are offered throughout the year and change often meeting the needs of the community. DAC is currently working with the school districts to create teacher CEU credit classes. The CAPS program provides professional development workshops to teachers and
businesses. There are a wide-range of of ferings, from team building drum circles to classroom management and arts integration techniques.
