The Art Therapy Institute at Durham’s Exchange Clubs’ Family Center is a collaboration of art therapists. We are all mental
health clinicians trained in the use of arts in the psychotherapy.
The Art Therapy Institute began in October of 2006. Our Master’s level art therapists bring art to the places people are
everyday; after school centers, day treatment programs, schools and battered women’s shelters. The Exchange Clubs’
Family Center would like to enhance the outreach work we do and improve access to mental health services in our community. By approaching mental health issues more globally and by sharing the healing components of the arts we will be able to provide support for many people and prevent more intensive interventions.
The Exchange Club’s Family Center is a tax exempt non-profit organization founded on the belief that parents are the most influential people in the lives of their children and can learn positive effective parenting skills if they are provided with support, knowledge, and access to community resources. Durham Exchange Clubs’ Family Center is committed to strengthening area families and preventing child abuse
through family support, counseling and parent education programs. |
